Zipline for Two, from First Date to “I Do”
Tuesday, February 14th, 2012Love is the air at Lake Geneva Canopy Tours! From a first date to engagement to “I Do,” we think a canopy tour is the best way to say, “I Love You,” to that special someone.
In honor of Valentine’s Day we’d like to share the many ways a zipline adventure can be an exciting way to strengthen your bond and celebrate relationship milestones.
1. First Dates: What better way to break the ice than congratulating each other on a job well done after you’ve both successfully conquered The Beast? The bond you build after your first canopy tour together will lay the foundation for a promising relationship.
2. Proposals: Mother Nature will provide a beautiful backdrop for your proposal, which will seem intimate and unique when presented atop our highest platform.
3. Bachelor/ette Parties: Say goodbye to the single life and hello to matrimony as you cross our 240-foot SkyBridge, the perfect metaphor for your new life status.
4. Weddings: Say “I Do” and when the minister responds, “You may now kiss the bride,” give her a smooch, leap off the launch tower, and take your first trip together down our Dual Racing Zipline. When you land your guests can shower you with rose petals, the only cliche allowed at your one-of-a-kind ceremony.
A canopy tour can also help celebrate some lesser-known, yet still important, relationship milestones…
1. The DTR: Every couple eventually has to have the DTR, the Determine The Relationship talk. Utilize our canopy tour to gain a captive audience for the 2.5 hours it takes to complete the course.
2. Meet the In-Laws: Many people dread meeting future in-laws, the stress of making the best first impression can lead to awkward moments…just watch any Hollywood romantic comedy. However, the thrill of flight can help you cut to the chase and get to know each other on a more intimate, “I’ve seen you scream like a school girl,” “we’re in it for the long haul,” kind of way.
3. Silver/Golden Anniversaries: Momentous achievements need outstanding celebrations. Check an item off each of your bucket lists while showing the world that young at heart isn’t just an adage, it’s a lifestyle!
No matter your relationship status or stage in life, a canopy tour is a great way to spend quality time with your loved ones. Take advantage of our February BOGO specials and fall in love with the thrill of flight!
See you in the trees!

Ten More Cities Join Lake Geneva in “Bird City” Distinction
Thursday, February 9th, 2012Congratulations Fontana!
Our neighbor to the southwest joins Lake Geneva in being designated a “Bird City” by the Milwaukee Audubon Society.
The project “recognizes efforts to improve bird habitat, manage woodlands, limit hazards, and educate citizens about birds,” as reported by the Associated Press. Read the full story here.
If you’d like to become more involved in recreational birding, spend the day on LGCT’s hiking trails this spring, and then use eBird, a relatively new online resource, to record and track your observations. You can also use the online database to view interactive charts and maps of observations others have made in the area.
As a sidenote, Lake Geneva Canopy Tours is a member of the Bluebird Restoration Association of Wisconsin, providing several nest boxes on our property and monitoring fledgling activity. Ask your guides about it and other wildlife activity during your next canopy tour!

Lake Geneva, Wisconsin Versus Switzerland’s Lake Geneva
Tuesday, February 7th, 2012In Lake Geneva for a spectacular ski vacation?
Bummed that this year’s warm winter weather isn’t the snowy wonderland you were expecting?
Well, we’ve got good news. Ziplining is a year-round adventure – no snow required!
Besides, complain all you want about the lack of snow and winter temperatures, you could be getting what you wish for.
Exhibit A:Lake Geneva (in Switzerland)
Versus Exhibit B: Lake Geneva, WI Winterfest
Europe is seeing an extended cold snap this winter, the worst in decades. Click here to see stunning photos. Numbers 1, 19, 20, and 28 are Lake Geneva…Switzerland.
By contrast, these photos were taken a few days ago in Lake Geneva…Wisconsin.
A mild winter for us just means less snow to shovel off of the SkyBridges. Though you may not see pristine white landscapes as you zip by, flying through the trees is just as much fun in any season!

We hope to see you in the trees this Winterfest weekend! If you’d like to learn more about the snow sculpting, Milwaukee’s Fox affiliate has a great segment you can view here.
TMJ4, also out of Milwaukee, brought it to our attention that this winter has been unseasonably mild. In their segment they discuss how this affects Winterfest and, in general, outdoor fun in Wisconsin. We here at Lake Geneva Canopy Tours have been loving the mild weather and all of our guests have enjoyed flying with us in the sun and snow (what little of it there has been so far).
To see how long these warm(er) temps will last, we looked to Holden’s prediction for the rest of winter:
Yep. He missed his shadow, and so we’ll be seeing an early Spring this year! Happy Groundhog’s Day!

Howling Hubris – An Observation by Holden
Friday, January 27th, 2012Amateur.
So is this how wolves got themselves off Wisconsin’s endangered species list (which takes effect today)? By counting small furball imitators like this one? Figures.
Even human children know wolves are not to be trusted, thanks to the example of Little Red.
Until next time,
Bud the Stud, gold lamé, and Fatbikes. THIS SATURDAY at LGCT
Thursday, January 19th, 2012Clear your calenders, Ladies and Gentlemen (or maybe just Ladies)!
There’s one important fact that everyone working at Lake Geneva Canopy Tours soon comes to understand. That fact is that it’s never a good idea to make a bet with our Course Manager, Phil. Unfortunately, Bud did not learn this quickly enough.
Bud made that bet.
Bud lost that bet.
As a result he is now condemned to wear this getup on Saturday, January 21st on his trip down the Racing Zip at 1:00 PM. If you recognize Bud’s outfit, it may be that it reminds you a certain 80′s transvestite rock opera:
Bud’s mostly-nekkid, gold lamé, 45 MPH penance will be the kickoff for the Team SnowBike Enduro taking place that afternoon. More details, and schedule of bike race at Fat-Bike.com. In short:
9:00 – 11:00 – Pre-Ride the course
11:00 – Noon – Registration
12:15 – Team Rider Draft (Team Captains pick riders like in 5th grade gym class)
1:00 – Race Starts – Bud’s Sub-Zero Zip to kick-off the LeMans Start –something fun!
4:00 – Finish & Awards
There will be refreshments, an expo area, and a campfire to keep warm. Join us for the day, reserve your spot on a canopy tour, or just come for the show. We hope to see you there!

Take a Winter Break with Travel Wisconsin & Lake Geneva Canopy Tours
Tuesday, January 17th, 2012Travel Wisconsin has a cool new app on their Facebook page where you can find fun winter activities taking place throughout the state.
The snow has just begun and if you know someone in need of a Winter Break send them a certificate via Facebook and suggest a snowy zipline canopy tour. After all, our BOGO special is good on weekdays for the month of January, and there’s nothing quite like flying through the canopy of the trees during a blizzard.
Don’t believe me?
Check out the footage shot last week during Lake Geneva’s first snowfall of the season:

Introducing: Holden
Monday, January 9th, 2012Hey Everyone, I’m Holden.
My dad says I need to write a blog because some of the two-legged friends who come into the office don’t know who I am.
Like. That’s. Possible.
But, whatevs. I’m good at the English and rock a QWERTY keyboard like nobody’s business.
Dad made sure I got a makeover before my big debut, so here goes. Remember this ladies and gentlemen (but mostly ladies); because it’s not often I share photos of my ungroomed self.
Before: Aren’t I adorable?
After: HOT DAWG, I’m bangin’!

Dad said I had to look good for my blog debut AND because a special visitor was coming. I'll tell you all about that next week!
A little about me:
I’m what you would call a Shih-Apso, a Lhasa Apso and Shih Tzu mix. All that translates into “Ladies’ Man,” because chicks dig me.
My favorite movies are Neverending Story and The Gremlins. Falcor and Mogwai, man…it’s like looking in a mirror, and I like to imagine myself on the silver screen.
I like long walks on the lakefront, but I prefer a more cozy Ranger ride on the trails at LGCT. I like to zipline with my dad, too.
Lastly, I really really like attention. I mean, LOTS of attention. So, please, don’t be mad if I ask you to toss One-Eyed Teddy or scratch my belly before you even have a chance to get through the door. My dad and the other humans in the office spoil me. It’s totally not my fault.
Until next time,
Pure. Adrenaline.
Tuesday, January 3rd, 2012If this little piggy can zip naked in the snow, why don’t you brave the elements, bundle up, and join us for a Canopy Tour this winter?
For the month of January, Canopy Tours are Buy One Get One during weekdays. That means for every weekday (Monday – Friday) tour you reserve, you get one free at the time of purchase for a friend or family member.
The Fine Print: Offer valid only for weekday (M-F) canopy tours. Limit one BOGO offer per person per visit. Cannot be combined with any other offers or discounts. Offer for free canopy tour redeemed at time of purchase.
As the temps plummet and the snow falls, we suggest wearing your warmest coat and bringing lined gloves for your visit. Don’t forget to wear an extra pair of wool socks, as we wouldn’t want your little piggies to get cold during your adventure in the trees.
Book your weekday Canopy Tour and soon you’ll be squealing with delight right along with GEICO’s Maxwell!
- Mandi
PS – Maxwell has terrible form, and, unfortunately, you’ll need your hands free for braking so no pinwheels are allowed on tour.
